How can I purchase your software?
|
Online
The best way to purchase ApexSQL Software is Online. Via our online purchase system orders can be created and paid for in a variety of means including credit card, fax, check etc.
Purchase Orders
Purchase Orders are available for Corporate Customers for orders greater than $500. Please see Purchase Orders FAQs for more information.
Phone Orders
You can order directly over the phone with a credit card between the hours of 9 AM to 5 PM Eastern Time using this Toll Free Number 1-866-665-5500 or 1-919-968-8444 for Non U.S./Canadian customers.
Additional Options for International Customers (Non U.S. & Canadian)
You Order directly over the phone with a credit card via our Purchasing Agent, share-it! - Digital River using this number +49 221 31088-20. This office is located in Germany. Operators are available who speak French, German, Spanish and Portuguese. Please have Product IDs ready. They can be obtained via the Purchase Page.

How long does it take to fill an order or respond to a question?
|
- Online orders are filled normally within 2 hours and at most 12 hours.
- E-mail responses are handled within 2 hours typically during normal working hours, with a maximum of 24 hours during the business week.
- Purchase Orders are usually processed by ApexSQL Headquarters same day if received before 3 PM within 24 hours of receipt. International Purchase Orders processed by share-it! - Digital River may take longer.

Online Purchase Process
|
How do I purchase online?
|
1. Go to Purchase Page.

2. Go to the product that you want to purchase and click its corresponding
button.
3. Select Product
When purchasing an individual product, you have the option to upgrade to one of our studio packages. To upgrade, select ApexSQL Developer Studio or ApexSQL Universal Studio. Click Continue.
At any time, you can click Back to change any of your selections.

4. Select Quantity
Once you have made a product selection, enter the number of licenses you want to purchase. We also offer Site Licenses. Site Licenses are recommended for companies who generally need more than 11 licenses. When done, click Continue.

5. Select Maintenance
Select your preferred maintenance contract (1, 2, or 3 years). A maintenance contract includes Phone Support and Free Major Upgrades. Click Continue.

6. Pre-checkout
During pre-checkout, you are allowed to review or change your order(s). After making any change, click Update to update the Total Amount. To purchase more products, you may select from the available discounted products from the page or click Continue Shopping. When done, click Checkout.

7. Checkout
During checkout, you will be asked to fill up the Customer Information page. If you are an existing customer, simply Login with your username and password.

8. Payment
On the same page, select your payment method and enter your coupon code, if any. Click Next, fill up any additional information, review your entries, and click Order now.

What kind of credit cards do you accept?
|
We accept the following major credit cards: Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover.

Is it safe to use my credit card on ApexSQL purchase site?
|
ApexSQL and share-it! - Digital River have taken great precautions to ensure that your credit card information is kept secret for Online Purchases. RSA security is generally regarded as one of the strongest that is available.
|
How long does it take to obtain my Activation Key after I purchase a product online by credit card?
|
After share-it! - Digital River receives your online credit card order, it may take up to 12 hours to authorize your transaction (although most orders are fulfilled in less than 2 hours). As soon as your charge is authorized you will receive an authorization e-mail with your Activation Key.
If your credit card is declined, then you will receive an e-mail indicating this.
If you do not receive any e-mail within 12 hours, then there is a problem with your order. In that case, please contact us by e-mail at sales@apexsql.com with your name, and the approximate date and time of your order to obtain the status of your order or call 919.968.8444 x11.

How will the purchase appear on my credit card statement?
|
"WWW.Element5.Info" will appear on your credit card statement for Online orders. You will receive an order confirmation and receipt by e-mail at the time when your credit card is charged.
"ApexSQL LLC" will appear for Orders processed directly through our office via Phone Orders or Faxed Orders.

No Taxes are charged for any order processed directly through ApexSQL HQ,
regardless of state/country, including Purchase Orders and Direct phone
orders.
Online Orders and International purchase Orders are processed
via Shareit - Digital River and are subject to taxes in some cases (see
above schedule).

What is your refund policy?
|
Since ApexSQL offers fully functional * 30 day evaluation periods, that reset with each new version, we don't
offer refunds on demand. We will consider requests based on
bugs/defects that we can't resolve in a reasonable period of time,
though. We require support information and customer assistance in
our steps to resolve the issue, which will be the primary focus.
Refunds due to lacking features, unsuccessful
or partial recoveries for ApexSQL Log or other non bug issues that could have been
evaluated during the evaluation period won't be considered.
* ApexSQL Log has special evaluation restrictions
on Data Recovery in which only every 10th row is recovered. If, because of this restiction, you are
unable to ascertain to some degree of certainty that you will achieve
a successful recovery, we recommend that you don't
purchase the software. We will not offer refunds based on partial or unsuccessful data recoveries.
In certain circumstances, we may offer a partial refund or a refund in kind (e.g. equivalent dollar amount of other ApexSQL software products) but this will be given at ApexSQL's sole discretion.

Can I get a Quote?
|
Yes, we offer official PDF quotes that can be signed and used as purchase orders. To request a quote email sales@apexsql.com with products, maintenance and quantity.

Can I purchase with a Wire Transfer?
|
Wire transfer is available for international customers.
Please contact sales@apexsql.com or 919-968-8444 for wire transfer information. Note: a $25 fee must be included in the invoice to cover Wire Transfer costs.
It can also be
accessed via an option in Customer Information Step of the
Online Purchase Process.
Bank accounts are available in Germany, France, Great Britain, Finland
and Japan.

Can I purchase Directly over the Phone?

Upgrades
|
What do "Upgrades" entitle me to?
|
If you purchase a Maintenance contract you will get all new major releases/versions for free. So if the current version series is 2005 then the major new versions in the 2008 would be free, for those who purchased a Maintenance contract.
|
How do I get upgrades if they are available?
|
The application will alert you to the existence of newer versions of the software posted on our site and will walk you through an automatic update process.
|
I have not purchased a Maintenance contract - how will I know if I qualify to receive the new version for free?
|
All minor versions (i.e. 2005.01 to 2005.02) will be free, no matter of maintenance contract status. Only major versions (i.e. 2005.37 to 2007.01) will not be free.
|
I have not purchased a Maintenance contract and a new Major version has been released which won't be a free upgrade. What are my options?
|
You can pay the full price for the software.
or ...
you can buy up the lapsed portion of your maintenance contract (at a premium) and get the Major version for free (if this is less). This is nominally calculated as 50% of current purchase price per year (this % may change). Because the Maintenance Contract is offered at a discounted price with initial purchase, it is recommended that customers include the Support and Upgrade contract.

How can I be notified of product upgrades and new releases?
|
The best way to stay informed of new releases, products, news etc is to subscribe to the ApexSQL RSS Feed.
We may also offer notification topics on the
support forum.
ApexSQL also offers an informative e-Newsletter. You can
optionally subscribe when registering on the website or by entering your
email address in the e-Newsletter subscription box on the home page.
Discounts

I want to buy several Apex SQL products. Are any discounts available?
|
ApexSQL offers two standard discounted bundles:
ApexSQL Developer Studio and
ApexSQL Universal Studio. Please see the Purchase
Page for more information.
Also, we offer many cross selling
discounts when customers purchase as few as two different products.
You can use Cross
Selling to create your own customized, discounted bundles.
Example:

(highlighted in RED) shows that ApexSQL
Edit has been added to ApexSQL Diff at a 30% discount. Other products
are listed that can also be added. Cross Selling
offerings/combinations/discounts may vary. In most cases, several
additional products can be added to a product and get the cross selling
discount.

Are there discounts for purchases of multiple units of software? |
We offer a tiered licensing schedule for our products. The more
licenses that you buy, the lower the price per unit. These
discounts can accrue over multiple orders over time. Click

Can I upgrade to ApexSQL Developer Studio or ApexSQL Universal Studio if I have purchased one or more products previously?
|
Yes, we will calculate the difference of what was paid (regardless of any original discounts), throughout the order history, and current price of ApexSQL Studio to determine the cost for upgrade. Note: Support & Upgrades must be the same (if possible).

I have purchased software before, if I purchase more can I benefit from quantity discounts?
|
Yes, we will calculate the difference of what was paid, throughout the order history, and current quantity discount for the total number of licenses. Note: Support & Upgrades must be the same (if possible).

Do you offer discounts for academic, non-profit, governmental or charitable organizations or associated individuals?
|
We offer discounts to Educational Institutions (schools, colleges and universities) and students, Non-Profit Organizations, Charitable Non-Profit Organizations and Government Agencies. To qualify for the discount, please send an email to sales@apexsql.com.

Do you offer competitive upgrades?
|
Yes, we do offer competitive upgrades, with the proof of purchase of competing product (pdf invoice, fax of invoice
or even screen shot of About form). Please contact

Do you offer site/company-wide licenses?
|
Yes, we offer site licenses. A site license is recommended for those companies who would need, in most instances, 11 or more licenses.
Maintenance
|
What is included in "Maintenance"?
|
|
Will I be notified that my maintenance is about to expire? |
Yes, you will be notified at least one month before your maintenance is due to expire by email with an offer to renew your maintenance for 1, 2 or 3 years.
|
If I let my maintenance expire, can I renew it at a later date?
|
No, but we offer discounts on new licenses to all existing customers. Contact sales@apexsql.com for more information.
|
How can I renew my maintenance?
|
You may renew your maintenance at anytime. Simply contact the sales office (sales@apexsql.com, 919-968-8444 or via fax 919-869-1617). You will also be sent an email that includes instructions on how you can renew online.
Licenses and Activation Keys
|
What types of license are available?
|
Per Client
ApexSQL licenses its products (except for ApexSQL Report, ApexSQL
Log, and ApexSQL Log API) per client on an individual basis. With the client license, only one
developer can use the software but client tools can be used on unlimited
servers.
Per Server
ApexSQL Log and ApexSQL Report are licensed per Server. This limits
the software to a single server but allows for unlimited clients. For more information on the license types please review the EULA.

Can I download a EULA, License Agreement etc?
|
A license agreement can be

What happens if I lose my Activation Key(s)?
|
The Activation Key appears on the About form. If you lose the Activation Key and do not have access to a previously installed version, click Here to have your Activation Key sent to your email address. You may also contact service@apexsql.com with your name, e-mail address, and proof of purchase (if available).
|
Can I transfer a license I own to another user?
|
If the software has been licensed to a Company, no notification
of transfer is required from one employee of a company to another.
If the software has been licensed to a particular user, you can transfer all of your rights under the End-User License Agreement (EULA) only with ApexSQL's written consent. We also require that you inform us
of the complete new user contact information.
Transfers, in either case, are allowed only provided you retain no
copies, components, media, or any part of the software. Notification of
transfer and destruction must be done in writing to ApexSQL and must
include all software identification information.

What Support Options are Available?

Delivery and Installation
|
Is there a Shipping Cost or Fee?
|
No. Shipping is included free in the cost of the Optional Physical Media/CD.
|
How can I get the physical media (CD) for the software I purchased and what is the cost?
|
We offer physical media in the form of a CD (Physical Media) in addition to the electronic delivery of our software. The media should arrive 10 to 15 days later. The cost is USD $15 per CD ordered, which includes shipping.
|
What exactly will I receive if the product is delivered by e-mail?
|
You will receive an order confirmation e-mail that will include the Activation Key(s), purchase reference number, payment confirmation, and invoice. The confirmation also includes contact information for billing, service and support.
|
How do I install the trial version of ApexSQL software?
|
The file you download is an self-extracting install file. Double-click the install file to run it, and follow the step by step instructions for installation.
Evaluations
|
Can I obtain evaluation copies? If yes, what are the restrictions? |
Yes, we offer evaluation copies that are Fully Functional *. The only restriction is the 30-day evaluation period. The software will cease to work at the end of the 30-day period unless activated.
* ApexSQL Log has special evaluation restrictions on Data Recovery in which only every 10th row is recovered.

My evaluation period has expired. How can I extend my evaluation?
|
In most cases evaluations resets aren't even required since evaluation periods are reset with each new version of the software. If a newer version is available, simply download it and the Evaluation period will be reset to a full 30 days.
But if you still require an evaluation extension please send a request along with your hardware ID to support@apexsql.com.
